NBC, the American television network controlled by General Electric, has taken a majority stake in Super Channel, the satellite service that is currently received in 56 million European homes.

Super Channel, which is based in Britain, was owned by the Marcucci family of Italy. NBC is thought to have taken a 75 per cent stake in conjunction with the French bank Credit Lyonnais, a Super Channel creditor.
