NEC takes 20% stake in Packard Bell

The US computer electronics company NEC is taking a 20 per cent stake in its competitor Packard Bell, in what the companies yesterday called the first step towards creating a strategic alliance in the global market for multimedia. Under the agreed deal, NEC will pay $170m for the stake.
