New gas price curb 'under consideration'

Gas industry regulator Clare Spottiswoode is reportedly considering a new curb on profits at British Gas. The proposed measure, which is still under discussion within Ofgas, would mean that if British Gas profits exceeded a given threshold, the company would be forced to share the benefit with customers. Ms Spottiswoode believes the present price controls on utilities are regarded by the public as unfair.
