Cannabis smokers in California can soon pay for pot using Bitcoin and get it delivered by drone

A start-up called Trees Delivery is enlisting drones for delivery

A start-up is awaiting regulatory approval in California to take pot smoking to the next level. Trees delivery has put together a service that allows smokers to order marijuana it their laptop without speaking to anyone, pay for it with Bitcoin and receive it by drone.

Trees, which is based in San Francisco, says smokers can order weed online on their phone or computer and get it delivered immediately during the day, seven days a week, during working hours.

The weed comes in three boxes: the bud box, which includes exotic and hard to find strains, the extract box, which contains hash, and a beginner box. The boxes also contain accessories such as paper and filter tips, grinders, lighters and rolling papers.

The catch? Smokers must have a medical license to order marijuana under the law. And even then, they can’t do it quite yet. Trees is awaiting approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration to fly drones.

"We're not sure when we'll be launching yet," a spokesperson for Trees told the International Business Times. "We are based in San Francisco and the legal situation here is not clear yet."

Trees is not the first company to consider drones for delivery. Amazon started promoting Amazon Prime Air earlier this year, but ran into difficulties getting approval from the FAA.
