Nearly 10,000 people are applying for the same job in China
Chinese civil service exam draws about 1.4 million applicants this year.

Nearly ten thousands Chinese jobseekers are competing for one position: an officer worker at a political organisation.
China's annual civil service recruitment drive began on October 15, with more than 27,000 vacancies on offer in over 120 central departments - drawing about 1.4 million applicants this year.
Job seekers registering for the civil exams are required to pick the positions they are most interested in when they sign up for the test but one job was more popular than others.
Some 9,504 people had expressed interest in the position of head of the reception office of the China Democratic League in Beijing, according to CNN.
The sought-after position involves preparing for conferences as well as arranging meetings, events and receptions. Only a bachelor’s degree is required.
Why a job with the China Democratic League appeals to so many hopeful civil servants is not readily apparent.
Zhu Lijia, a professor at the Chinese Academy of Governance, said the job’s location in Beijing, the modest requirements and the benefits attached to the position make it attractive.
“When people make choices, they tend to go with the principle of economics,” he told China Daily.
"It is natural for them to choose jobs with better benefits, more opportunities for development and good locations."
Last week, the State Civil Administration, which is in charge of hiring government workers, encouraged job seekers to apply for less popular jobs.
“We hope the vast majority of candidates will make rational choices when selecting positions, considering both characteristics of each job and their own personal conditions,” a notice said,
