Dreamliner's bumpy flight continues as LOT cancels flight

The first European carrier to operate Boeing's £150 million flagship Dreamliner jet continues with the news that the 787 has faced technical glitches this week.

Polish airline LOT said it had cancelled a Dreamliner flight from Warsaw to Chicago yesterday because the aircraft had "problems with the power supply".

A spokeswoman added that on Wednesday another LOT Dreamliner flight, from Warsaw to Toronto, had had to be pushed back by 24 hours as "there occurred a need to remove some questions regarding the airplane's identification in the air".

Boeing's flagship new jet returned to the skies in May, after the entire fleet was grounded for four months over battery problems and safety concerns. Boeing re-designed the battery system and regulators cleared the jets to fly again.

In June United Airlines in the US reported problems with two Dreamliners which caused aircraft to be diverted.

Thomson Airways has flown its first UK passengers on the new plane, the first of eight Dreamliners it has ordered. British Airways took delivery of the first two of 24 Dreamliners at Heathrow last week, while Virgin Atlantic is due to get the first of 16 Dreamliners it has ordered next September.
