Shares of Tesla Motors rose more than 6 per cent in their trading debut after the electric sports car maker's expanded flotation in New York raised more money than expected.
The company has not had a profitable quarter since it was founded in 2003, and has sold only 1,000 of its high-end Roadster sports cars. Investors are hoping that a planned lower-priced car will have a broader appeal.
