The former Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt is to join the health insurance specialist Bupa as a non-executive director. Ms Hewitt, who was Labour MP for Leicester West for 13 years, is a senior independent director at BT and a board member at Eurotunnel.

Lord Leitch, chairman of Bupa, said: "Patricia's extensive government and international business experience will bring valuable insight to Bupa."
