Europe and the US took a "major step forward" yesterday in negotiations over the next phase of the Open Skies agreement liberalising the aviation sector, the European Commission said.
The first deal, in 2008, removed restrictions on flights between the two countries. The latest agreement guarantees the permanence of existing measures and proposes extensions allowing carriers to buy larger stakes in rivals in the foreign market.
