Polyus Gold, a precious metals empire owned by Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, is set to expand into Kyrgyzstan. The group is the favourite to win a gold field development contract in Jerooy.
The Kyrgyzstan development fund has announced a tender for a partner for the mine, which should be operational within a year. Polyus took a controlling stake last year in the London-listed miner KazakhGold, which employs 3,200 people in Kazakhstan.
