Salamander Energy's Dao Ruang-2 well in the Khorat Basin in Thailand is to be temporarily suspended after failing to flow at commercial rates, the company said yesterday.

Instead, the oil and gas prospector will move to drill a second well at a different location in the same field. "While it is disappointing that we did not encounter commercial gas at our first Dao Ruang location, it is clear from drilling that there is a significant gas column in the structure," the chief executive, James Menzies, said.
