Three siblings who play swing, a spoken word artist nominated for the Mercury music prize and a trio of DJs who include a former bodyguard for Westlife, are all among artists receiving government grants to encourage success overseas.
Thirteen artists – including Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Kate Tempest and Futuristic Polar Bears – have each been given up to £30,000 in the fifth round of the Music Export Growth Scheme, set up to encourage success abroad.
The money will be put towards touring, venue costs, marketing and promotion.
