Toys R Us launches nationwide closing down sale with discounts of up to 25%

Customers advised to take advantage of big price reductions as soon as possible as some stores may close down within a few days

Toys R Us has launched a nationwide closing-down sale, with reductions of up to 25 per cent available across its range.

The toy chain collapsed into administration this week, putting 3,000 jobs at risk, but all 105 stores remain open.

From Friday, all name-brand and Babies R Us products will be discounted, administrators Moorfields announced.

Some stores may close within days, the administrators warned. Customers are therefore being advised to take advantage of the big discounts on offer as soon as possible.

Gift cards and vouchers will be honoured whilst the stores continue to trade.

Customers who have paid deposits and instalments for items under Toys R Us’s payment plan will need to pay the outstanding balance and collect goods by 11 March.

Alternatively, customers can use their deposits towards the cost of any in-store purchases provided that these are completed by the same date.

“We’ve introduced heavy discounts across the entire Toys R Us store portfolio today,” Simon Thomas, joint administrator and partner at Moorfields, said on Friday.

He added: “Customers are encouraged to take advantage of these special offers as soon as possible.

“Whilst stock levels are generally high, customers may find that the more popular brands begin to sell out over the coming days.”
