Northern Leisure soars

Shares in Northern Leisure, the nightclub owner, jumped 40p to 459.5p after it announced profits for the six months to March up 89 per cent to pounds 7m. The fast-growing group is also raising pounds 20.6m from a share placing to fund an ambitious expansion programme that is likely to make it the largest nightclub owner in the UK.
