Ombudsman set to resign over powers

The increased powers of the new Personal Investment Authority are expected to result in the resignation of Julian Farrand, the insurance Ombudsman, this Friday. Mr Farrand is said to feel that the PIA has taken too much of his job. It handles personal pensions and life assurance, leaving the Ombudsman with motor and household insurance.
