ANDREW CORNELIUS is stepping aside as City news editor of The Independent and returning to the other side of the fence - City PR - as a director of Citigate Dewe Rogerson, the recently merged PR firm owned by Incepta Group.

Mr Cornelius will be reunited with various chums, including Patrick Donovan, Jonathan Clare, Cary Martin, and Phillip Robinson - another former City news editor of both The Independent and the Daily Telegraph.

Hardcore Luton Town fan Cornelius joined the Indy last August. He declined to comment on rumours he is putting together a rescue bid for Luton, or "the Hatters", which went into receivership this week.
