PILKINGTON, THE industrial glassmaker, delivered a lukewarm trading statement yesterday and said it intended to build an pounds 80m plant in France to keep up with European demand.
Pilkington said prices and demand were recovering in Europe and remained strong in North America. But analysts said Pilkington took the market by surprise with the French plant plans
and the shares closed nearly 5 per cent down at 110p.
