LONDON TRANSPORT has awarded a five-year information technology contract worth pounds 25m to ITNET, a supplier of outsourced IT services, in preparation for any public-private partnership arrangements for the capital's transport network.

The deal to provide 8,000 desktop computers and 250 servers - one of the biggest ever arrangements of its kind - will enable ITNET to provide services to a number of operating companies under one contract.
