Record profits at Commercial Union

Shares in Commercial Union jumped 16p to 314p as the composite insurer announced record profits for the year to December of pounds 509m, an increase of 14 per cent. A full year contribution from last year's acquisition of Groupe Victoire boosted profits and shareholders funds ended the year 30 per cent up at pounds 4.07bn.
