Record profits at Electrocomponents

Roy Cotterill, chairman of Electrocomponents, bought 2,000 shares in the electronics distribution group at 609p yesterday after announcing an 18 per cent rise in profits to a record pounds 86.1m for the year to March. Earnings per share advanced 20 per cent to 27.4p, out of which a final dividend of 8p is being paid, raising the total for last year from 9.5p to 11.25p. Investment Column, page 26
