CHECKPOINTS may be set up to stop cars and lorries entering the City of London under measures aimed at preventing further IRA bombings.

The City of London Corporation said the proposal was still at the blueprint stage, but other measures already agreed include removing litter bins until they can be made bomb-proof and making funding avaliable for 57 more police officers.
