SFI Group, the pubs chain formerly known as Surrey Free Inns, yesterday issued an upbeat trading statement as it announced a 41 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to pounds 3.3m for the 25 weeks to 21 November.
The company, which runs the Litten Tree and Bar Med pub chains, said it had benefited from concentrating on branded town and city-based outlets and World Cup promotions. Trading over Christmas jumped 17.8 per cent on the previous year.
