THE European Court will rule on Sunday trading laws in England and Wales on 16 December. The court will decide whether the laws are compatible with its rules. If it rules in favour of Sunday opening, the Government is likely to speed up legislation to implement the new measure. Retailers are expected to defy the opening ban in the run-up to Christmas.
