Taiwan central banker steps down

Liang Kuo-shu, 64, the governor of Taiwan's central bank, is resigning due to ill health. He is to be replaced by Sheu Yuan-dong, currently chairman of the state-owned Bank of Taiwan, the island's biggest commercial bank.
