oAllied Radio, the poor relation of the booming broadcasting sector, edged forward 0.5p to 3p in brisk trading. The loss-making group has a radio station in Manchester and another at Crawley, Sussex. The Crawley licence is up for renewal with the result of bids expected in October. There is talk of stake-building with Luke Johnson said to be leading the assault. The shares were once 250p.
oJohn Mansfield, the timber group, held at 3.25p. Joseph Lewis, who ran a leisure company, is believed to have built an 8 per cent shareholding to match the stake of director Rodney Graves.
