o Gowring, the family controlled car dealer which has ventured into fast food restaurants and now has 16 Burger King outlets, should achieve profits of more than pounds 750,000 this year against a pounds 332,000 loss last time.

John Fowles, the chairman, is striving to increase the Burger King operations and has a string of possible sites under review.

Gowring is now the third largest Burger King group in the country. The shares, which have advanced strongly, fell 8p to 100p.

o IAF, a financial group which came to the stock market last year via a reverse take over of the old Greyfriars Investment Trust, is likely to make profits of pounds 3.3m this year and pounds 4m next, believe stockbroker Greig Middleton. It rates the shares, at 18.5p,

a buy.
