THE BATTLE for control of Talk Radio started in earnest yesterday as the consortium headed by Kelvin MacKenzie, the former Sun editor, tabled its long-awaited bid for the radio station.
Mr MacKenzie's bid, backed by Rupert Murdoch's News International, was tabled a week after an earlier offer from Talk management, who are being supported by United News & Media, owners of the Express titles.
It is understood that the management team have been given an opportunity to revise their bid, despite attempts by the MacKenzie camp to force a quick decision from CLT-UFA, the Luxembourg group which is selling its 65 per cent stake.
