US West in cable talks

US West Media Group yesteday confirmed it was in talks to increase its stake in Telewest Communications, the UK cable company, although no offer has yet been made. US West International, the unit of US West Media that already owns 26.75 per cent of Telewest, wants buy the10 per cent stakes held by Cox Communications and SBC Communications, industry sources said.
