Whitbread expands

Whitbread, the brewing group that has been expanding its leisure interests with the acquisition of David Lloyd Leisure and 16 Marriott hotels, is buying the CB Costa chain of coffee shops. There are 41 coffee shops in the group and Whitbread plans to add a further 30 branches annually over the next few years. The deal is expected to be completed in October.
