GEORGE Wimpey, the construction group, yesterday parted company with its finance director less than three years after he was appointed, writes Heather Connon.
Roger Wood has resigned 'to pursue other interests'. He had just over 18 months of his contract to run and is likely to receive more than pounds 200,000 compensation. He will be replaced by Richard Saville, the director of corporate development since 1991.
It is believed that Joe Dwyer, Wimpey's chief executive, felt the group needed finance director.
Analysts and investors had become dissatisfied with Mr Wood's performance. 'In my view, whatever they say, Wimpey found him out and his contract has not been renewed,' one analyst said.
Wimpey's shares gained 0.5p to 230p.
