RENEWED demand for mining stocks helped shares close at their highest levels since mid-2002. Tate & Lyle jumped 7.1 per cent on news that Coca- Cola is planning a drink sweetened with its sugar substitute, Splenda. The FTSE 100 closed up 0.8 per cent at 4,979.8.
