CCTV shows dozens of cars going the wrong way along the M1

This was the moment dozens of cars - and even a coach - risked their lives to avoid a traffic jam on the M1.

Northamptonshire Police released CCTV video from July 5 showing several drivers performing illegal u-turns in order to avoid traffic caused by a road accident that occurred moments before.

The cars - and one large coach - are seen going the wrong way down a slip road to avoid queues at Junction 18 on the M1.

PC Lee Davids said the drivers were "behaving ridiculously" and putting not only themselves at risk, but every single driver and passenger down the slip road.

Officers from Northamptonshire Police are now investigating the footage to take action against those that performed the illegal u-turns.
