A TORY life peer moved yesterday to retain the voting rights of some hereditary peers in the first sitting of the House of Lords since the summer recess. Lord Pearson of Rannoch, a life peer, sought to introduce his own Bill which would allow the election of 250 from the hereditary peers on a rotating basis. Next month's Queen's Speech is expected to contain measures to abolish their voting rights.
