Charities get boost at home
A SURVEY of the incomes of Britain's main charities today shows that giving has risen by 11 per cent over the past year - the biggest rise of the decade. More charities received National Lottery grants than in previous years, although the size of lottery grants dropped from more than pounds 2m each to pounds 465,000 - and the total income of the top 500 charities rose to pounds 4.4bn in 1996/97, according to the survey by the Charities Aid Foundation.
