Sarah Cook, the 13-year-old who married an unemployed waiter in Turkey, is to return to Britain today, according to unconfirmed reports broadcast on Turkish television.
TGRT, a national TV channel, said yesterday that Sarah, from Essex, had been persuaded to fly home by her mother, Jackie, 37, who was ordered by a High Court judge to bring her home "forthwith" more than a week ago.
The Foreign Office was unable to confirm the reports, saying any return was "a matter for her mother and Essex social services". Sarah became a national celebrity in Turkey after marrying her boyfriend, Musa Komeagac, 18, in a ceremony that turned out to be illegal because she was under 15. Musa was subsequently charged with statutory rape and remains in custody pending a hearing on 15 February.
