Children's home assault charge
Detectives investigating alleged physical and sexual abuse at a former council-run children's home last night charged a former social worker with indecent assault. The 41-year-old man is due to appear before Cardiff magistrates' court today accused in connection with assaults on two males dating back to 1973.
South Wales police said they would apply for a remand in police custody to investigate further allegations. The force launched an extensive inquiry last autumn following complaints by former residents of the now closed Taff Vale children's home in Whitchurch, Cardiff. Six other men, including former social workers, have been arrested and charged with various offences.
