THE WEATHER-ALTERING La Nina phenomenon has virtually vanished from the Pacific Ocean, satellite observations show. The pool of unusually cool tropical water marked by low sea levels has shrunk and the equatorial Pacific is warming to normal temperatures, Nasa said this week.
However, scientists cautioned that La Nina, like its warm counterpart, El Nino, would continue to influence global climate till it subsided.
