FOUR HUNDRED aid workers are building dikes in eastern Hungary to protect the region from some of the worst flooding in years along the Tisza river.
The army has also sent some 800 soldiers as well as helicopters to help battle the flooding, which forced the evacuation of four small villages. The Hungarian President, Arpad Goncz, said more money should have been spent on containing flood waters.
