Paul Muldoon is the last of 10 shortlisted poets for the TS Eliot Prize for best new collection of poetry. He was born in Portadown in 1951. After working as a BBC radio producer in Belfast he moved to the United States and took up a teaching post at Princeton. This year's judges are Ciaran Carson, Candia McWilliam, John Fuller and Robert Crawford, chaired by Elaine Feinstein. Mrs Valerie Eliot will present the prize this evening at an awards ceremony in London. This poem is from his collection `The Annals of Chile' (Faber)
