Education: Letter - A professional low point on closer inspection

The latest research has confirmed what every teacher who has been inspected during the past five years has known all along: the system of inspections as currently practised does more harm than good. It has been chiefly responsible for bringing teacher morale to the lowest point in living memory and deterring nearly all sensible and intelligent graduates from entering the profession.

Since all the harm it has done at enormous expense to the taxpayer has not even helped to improve exam results in any measurable way, it should surely be scrapped.
