SOME MUSICIANS did not have "the draconian hand of a parent propelling them forward" (Education, 4 February), but one propelling them firmly backwards. Thomas Arne, Berlioz, Boulez, Handel, Haydn and Johann Strauss II all encountered strong parental opposition.
