Hockey: Nicol setback for Surbiton

With England still in Cairo, Sunday's National League programme is restricted to Division One only, where the leaders Surbiton, who will be without their top goal-scorer Greg Nicol, entertain Harleston Magpies.

Another setback for Surbiton is the condition of Nicol's fellow South African, Greg Clark, who has not recovered from the injury which limited his debut to nine minutes.

St Albans' home game against Bournville has been postponed to allow the National Indoor champions to participate in an indoor tournament in Germany.

Two contrasting coaches - Gavin Featherstone and John Shaw - are thrown together as the women's National League returns after a five-week break. Newly promoted Olton, guided by the outspoken Featherstone, are hoping they can improve on third place at home, against Slough, the defending champions coached by the quiet, thoughtful Shaw.
