Leading article: Better inspection
There may well be one or two nervous head teachers at the start of the new school year as Ofsted, the education standards watchdog, brings in its new regime of giving just two days' notice of an inspection. If they get the call, they would do well to remember the 10 weeks of non-stop trauma under the old regime when they would complain they were being given too much notice of an impending inspection. The change is a change for the better and will allow inspectors the opportunity to see a school as it really is - rather than a sanitised version after weeks of preparation.
