The West Bromwich captain Daryl Burgess, 26, has signed a three- year extension to his contract.

Chelsea are giving a trial to the Cannes' French right-sided midfielder, Laurent Chalvert. The 25-year-old is to play for the reserves on Monday.

Christer Furst, the Swedish international, is on a two-week trial at Southampton. The Cologne midfield player, capped four times by Sweden, made his debut for the reserves in the 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on Wednesday.
