Sheffield Wednesday signed the 19-year-old Italian striker Francesco Sanetti from Genoa on a free transfer on Thursday. He was out of contract at the Serie B club and has agreed a four-year deal at Hillsborough.
Everton beat the transfer deadline to sign Chester's Matt McKay. The 17-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal for a fee which could rise to pounds 750,000 depending on appearances.
The Italian Serie A club Lazio have reportedly signed the 19-year-old Yugoslav international midfielder Dejan Stankovic for pounds 6.7m from Red Star Belgrade.
