Three undergraduates of Jesus College, Cambridge, are to be disciplined after they pretended to be pupils from Eton then told prospective students waiting to be interviewed the college only accepted private school pupils.

Dr Geoff Parks, a tutor, told the student newspaper The Tab the incident was being investigated.

He added: "The college condemns this stupidity. Applicants will not be disadvantaged as a result of this incident."
