Madam: Regarding "From Russia with disappointment" (30 March), I must express, on behalf of Thames Valley University, our serious concern at the distorted picture given of the reaction of the Moscow State University students to the programmes of studies they are following with us.

The article admits "His criticisms may not reflect the views of all his colleagues ..." but, having given this individual's views more than a column's space at the start of the article, the negative tone is already firmly set.

We know other students expressed to your reporter satisfaction and pleasure at their experience with us. It should also be noted that in the recent HEQC audit the university's overseas placements and exchange arrangements received commendation for their high quality.
