Ten things that Barnsley's Macedonian Georgi Hristov might be missing today

Drama - a region of Macedonia that has a rich history of theatre.

The inspirational legacy of Alexander the Great.

Skiing in the resorts of Grevena, Florina, Emathia, Kavala and Serres. (Although he may have had enough of slippery slopes in the Premiership.)

Hundreds of kinds of kebab.

His hometown, Skopje, ravaged in the past by earthquakes, but rebuilt by Kenzo Tango, a Japanese urban planning specialist.

Anastasia. Not the long-lost daughter of a Tsar, but the Macedonian folk group whose "Before the Rain" album is legendary - throughout Macedonia.

Pretty girls. Hristov was reported as saying Yorkshire lasses could not compare to Skopje's beauties.

Sophisticated girls. Apparently Hristov dislikes the amount of beer that Barnsley women quaff.

Fans. He has not been the most admired man in south Yorkshire.

The 14th century St. Andrew's monastery, 17km from Skopje. The ideal place for contemplation of his recent statements.
