Leading article: Students are right

The lecturers and university employers had more talks about talks this week. But pay talks have still not begun because the AUT will not lift its action while these take place, and the employers refuse to talk unless it does so. Meanwhile, students are concerned (see Comment, right). The AUT is rubbing its hands with glee despite the fact that the National Union of Students has pulled the rug out from under them, urging them to adopt Natfhe's tactic of setting exams. It would then be quicker to do the marking when the dispute ends. We agree with the NUS and suggest the AUT should worry about losing student support.
