When money is no question, how do the wealthy elite choose where to send their children for the best possible education?

Like many of of the world's most exclusive schools, prestigious Le Rosey boarding school in Switzerland boasts mountain views and the best private ski slopes to match.

With annual fees of more than double that of Eton and other top British schools, Le Rosey provides a home from home to the sons and daughters of rock stars and politicians - all of whom are able to make use of an equestrian centre, seasonal campuses and a 38-foot yacht.

Of the top 10 most expensive schools in the world, Switzerland claims at least eight by The Independent's count. In fact, the price of a room at Harrow or Malvern College pales in comparison to some of these eye-watering Alpine retreats.

Here are the top 10 most expensive schools in the world.
